The Pearl Consort (Sold)

"The Pearl Consort"
Zhen Fei (Pearl Consort) was the beloved concubine of Emperor Guangxu of the Ching dynasty. She was handpicked by the Empress Dowager for this position. Brought up in the relative liberal atmosphere of Guangzhou, she detested the fawning and flattery demanded by court convention. She had a strong sense of justice and love for her emperor and country, and supported Emperor Guangxu's social reforms. As a result, she incurred the wrath of the Empress Dowager, who imprisoned her in the Cold Palace, where she languished till her death.
