Cape Shoalwater - Schurr
The tides flow so rapidly over the shallows that the beaches shifted right before my very eyes. I spent three days of misery camping in the fog and rain just to get a view of the distant mountains framing this Pacific Cape. At night I could hear the sand being sucked out to sea and with the morning came the rush of wave motion carrying it back to a different location. A land in transition is not just the titanic forces of volcanoes or earthquakes but the subtle forces of the Moons actions. I realized that even my small presence on this vast coastline had its impact and I walked more gently through the forest.
