The Northwest coastline of the United States witnesses some of the most obscuring fogs imaginable; this view of Cape Foulweather is so startling and vivid because it's so seldom seen. The panorama of the Pacific the distant fleecy clouds, and the middle ground cape framed by the foreground's gnarled tree grew gently out of the mist, and within twenty minutes the scene was utterly clear. An hour later all was grey, silvery and lost to the fog.
