Michaela is performing the hula kahiko (ancient dance). She wears a lei of limu kala, a seaweed used in Hawaiian cleansing rituals. Flowing from Michaela’s dance, a wave emerges, presenting the spirit of Na-maka-o-Kaha'i, the goddess of the sea. From the ocean’s depth she purifies our soul. Michaela’s mana'o (feeling) “From the ocean we receive a vast source of nature’s purist gifts: creation (life) and cleansing (life renewed).”
